Help Owner info on lockscreen

wrench

Well-Known Member
Is there a way to get owner info on the lockscreen? For example, I'd like it to read "If found, please return this phone to MyName. Phone: xxx-xxx-xxxx, Email: MyName@gmail.com".

Can this be done with the stock HTC lockscreen? Are there others that are as secure, but provide this extra functionality? I'm rooted, if that makes a difference.

I created an image for the lockscreen with my information on it. Just be sure it is on the top where it won't be hidden by the clock on the lock screen.

Use your favorite tool to create the image.

There is info in the forums here on how to replace the image on your lock screen.

Replacing the lockscreen image is the easy part (Settings, Personalize). Creating the image seems like it would be harder.

If you need help creating an image, let one of us know.

I ran across the app the other day that would be perfect in this situation... I'm trying to find it again now.

I can't find the one I saw the other day.... Sorry :(

Like I said though, if you need help creating a wallpaper for your lockscreen, let one of us know.

There's an app called Contact Owner or something like that, but apparently quite buggy.

I think a wallpaper with contact info is a nice simple and failure-free way to go.

What would be the easiest way to do this? I suppose I could write info on a piece of paper, then take a photo and use that as my lockscreen.

You could do something like that... Personally though, I'd just make something in photoshop or paint or something.

I'm not so artistically inclined. Somebody should make an app that allows you to take any wallpaper and enter text fields on it.

You just want something simple like this?

attachment.php

Yeah. How are you editing the text? I could probably use that same method with any existing wallpaper, right?

If you want to post up the wallpaper here and PM me the information you want on it I'll email it to you.

... or you can wait for your friend to do it.... either way :)

I use the app ANTIVIRUS FREE by droidSecurity Inc. under: Settings, Remote Management

I just edited the Lost Message (Text before) to put Property of and a emergency # to call, and i left "Contact information" and "Text After" blank.

It comes out in the Lock Screen where you enter the unlock pattern.

By the way, I am running a stock Sprint HERO

Yeah, and I prefer the edited wallpaper over having to use another app for something so minor, plus I don't want to risk any security loopholes that another app might introduce to the lockscreen.

Not to bump unnecessarily, but I found that this was very easy and straightforward to do on the phone using PicSay. It's a great photo editor available free on the market and you can use it to add text to your pictures as titles in various fonts.

The "it" factor for me was that once you enter the text, it becomes an object you can move and resize right on the picture. Then simply export the picture to your SD and set as Lock screen. If it doesn't look just right, you can reopen PicSay and edit the picture as you left it and re-export. Awesome!

This is super useful to me, because whenever I want to change my lock screen picture, it's very simple to get my info on it again.

Hope this helps! =)

there's also a feature allowing you to edit owner info/if found text and contact info built right in AVG antivirus for Android (which may be the same as/similar to/rebranded version of the "antivirus free" app mentioned by previous poster. No editing of lockscreen bitmap required.
