Pandora now Charging??

I went to use my phone or Pandora, like I normally do, except when I click the Pandora app now, it goes to the Play Store and tries to make me pay for it.

What gives?

The amount of free airplay via Pandora Mobile has been limited, sometime in the last few weeks. I believe it's now 40 hrs/month, but may be remembering incorrectly. It will be interesting to see if this decision works in their favor... I was certainly disappointed to hear it.

You are correct. They limit to 40 hours a month on the free version. One thing is they count the total time of the song even if you skip the song. I was trying to set up my preferences and set up 4 different categories. They play the songs and you either skip or keep. Allowed 6 skips per hour per category. Used up my 40 hours in about 1/2 hour of actual playing. Decided it was too much trouble and uninstalled.

Yea, I was thinking of doing this anyway...

I did it mainly because on my old phone (OG Evo), everytime it went to a commercial, it screwed everything up. Songs would skip, and there would be 30-60 seconds of dead air before the next song would start.

I figured if I could avoid the switch over to commercials, it would prevent all the issues I was experiencing...and it did. I am pretty close to my renewal, and I'm not 100% sure that I'll renew. Ever since I got into MP3s, I've been listening to those almost exclusively...and I haven't launched Pandora in over 2 months.

I still think it's worth it for anyone who uses the service.

I've been using jango and been loving it. No skip limit. Also spotify is pretty good and both seem to play more variety. Pandora has been giving me a lot of repeats. I know I can select tired of this track but I'm lazy and maybe I'm not fully tired of it. Just tired of Pandora

I also use Spotify, and the paid service let's me listen to specific songs if I want, which is a deal breaker. I would much rather pay a monthly fee than buy songs individually since I get tired of songs quickly.
