Root Paragon RC4 ROM Should Be Available Today

According to the Dev's posts, it seems that Paragon RC4 will be released today. Grab it here when it is available. As of posting this, RC4 is not available yet.

I have been running Paragon RC3 for a few days now and I really like it. It is very stable, has an often overlooked feature from other 2.2 or 2.2.1 ROMs, Bluetooth voice dialing, and with RC3 the battery life is great and all of the testing shows that it will improve with RC4. Overclocking is available with a pre-installed app called Voltage control. My GPS speed and accuracy has improved more than what I thought possible with my phone. My GPS was able to track me perfectly while I was weaving my way through my neighborhood and the neighborhood behind my house. I have never been able to do that before without My Tracks thinking I was driving through my neighbors' yards.

Thanks, let me know how it goes. I've gone though 5 different roms the past few days trying to find one with a working GPS. Currently I am running the Paragon RC3 and I LOVE it. I didn't think it was possible but the GPS actually works now and I am able to get a FULL days on a single battery and this is playing with the phone.

I am kinda afraid to upgrade to the RC4 because I finally have a phone that is usable.

I cant compare the two but I really like rc4 I havent had but a few hours of me messing with tho. What overclocking are you set on with great battery life?

I too had great battery life with R3. Just installed R4 today and will give it a go. My phone doesn't like higher settings than 1200MHZ. I underclock at -75, -75, -100, -100, -125 and it works well for me. I tried 1300MHZ but had a couple of freezes and had to reboot. So I'm leaving it at 1200....can't tell any difference in the speed. :p

With the text to speech installed the bluetooth voice dial works great. To me that makes this ROM the best.

i seem to be able to run mine at 1400 without seeing any issues, 1500 and it glitches freezes or shuts off. i really like the rom, and iafter going thru 3 roms in 3 days im settling down

I just installed it this evening. I will be keeping an eye on the battery because RC4 is supposed to be better than RC3 even though RC3 was incredible.

I didn't touch the voltage, it is clocked at whatever the default is.

I read somewhere that you can upgrade from RC3 to RC4 without having to reinstall the ROM. Is that true? I really don't want to go and config everything again.

How's battery life looking on RC4? I'm still using Phoenix 1.0 because the battery has been so good (1% drop every 2-3 hours overnight on wifi). I'm curious about Paragon, though. Have been since the first RC.

Battery life is great, but I plug in my phone every night, so I am not a good source for overnight battery consumption. I noticed a huge improvement from stock to RC3. I used to have no problem draining my battery to 20% before I left work. I use push corporate e-mail, two Gmail accounts, listen to music, and do some random browsing of the web. Maybe if I am bored of the music on my phone I will connect to my VPN at home and download 150 MB of music. Using the Stock ROM, I always had a charger with me.

My experience with RC3 was incredible. I used the Nav for 20 minutes on the way to work one morning without plugging it in, listened to several hours of music a work, made a couple short phone calls, corporate e-mails, etc., then used the Nav without plugging it in again for another 15 minutes that evening. After all that, I went to bed at midnight with 30% battery remaining.

I have only had RC4 for less than 24 hours now, so I don't have much time on the battery yet. So far RC4 seems to be at least comparable to RC3 and possibly better.

One thing I have noticed about RC4 that is weird is the brightness setting. I have had the Stock ROM, Cognition 3.02, and Paragon RC3 on my phone and all of them had similar brightness settings. I set the brightness at about 20 or 30%. Now with RC4, my setting is 50% and my browser setting is 60% just to be able to match the system setting.

First, check and make sure you are not touching the Home button with your hand when the program closes.

Second, if you performed a backup before you installed the ROM, make sure that you do not restore any system files or settings. Only restore missing applications and application data.

Third, the flash may be bad. Backup your files on your phone and flash Paragon 5.1 again.

First of all Thank you very much for the quick reply.
I did make the backup and i only restore the applications.
I will try to reflas it again. We'll see what happens.

Thanks again.:)

Installed RC5 last night. It's awesomely fast. Only problem was the android email would not open, forced close when trying to open. Had to get Enhanced Email. Gmail worked fine.
I think my problem was restoring ALL files and settings inlieu of "missing" ones. I may reflash it, and try it again.
But so far, the ROM is very very fast and cool.

Have discovered a problem with RC5. When in camera mode, I cannot switch to video without getting "Warning. Camera Failed", after hitting "ok", camera app closes to home screen. Haven't had this problem on other apps! Anyone have a suggestion?

I have a captivate and a bluant Q2 bluetooth, I cannot get the speech to text to work. I have upgraded the captivate to 2.2
How do you install the RC5 that you all are talking about? Would it help me?
Thanks for any suggestions!! :)

Paragon is a custom ROM that completely replaces the Samsung modified version of Android 2.2 on your phone with a 3-party developer version of 2.2.1. It may help you, but you may not want to flash a custom ROM just for that. ROMs can have bugs and issues, especially if installed incorrectly.
