Root parsnoid android-ish rom?

At the moment you can do it yourself by changing DPI. Anything below 170ish, if I remember correctly, and you'll end up with the tablet UI. I don't know how that affects readability though, as apparently it will mess up some of the fonts.

I also saw in that custom ROM thread on XDA that they intend to include the option, without the need to change DPI. At the moment though, we only have one rom and it's on version 1.0, so I think we just need to be patient in that reguard :p

Wow, was just about to ask this question. :)
I've flashed it on my Nexus but the text was just TOO small (I know, you can change the DPI). I'm sure there'll be some developer out there to create an ICS tablet-esque ROM though. Can't wait to ROM the hell out of this thing. :D

I assume you meant to put 'paranoid' in the thread title, because one of the developers from that group said here that they would be porting paranoid to the N7 with the tablet UI feature :)

I'm in a different boat. Can't imagine using an ICS type ROM on Jelly Bean. Gonna keep mine pristine, LOL. Thinking will not custom ROM at all, but will look at any JB ROMs to see what they are like.

Did unlock and root, but even going to maintain the stock recovery so I don't have to mess with it to get the updates.

This is certainly JB compatible. Basically, instead of having a "phone" interface, it goes back to how ICS is on a tablet. The notification bar and softkeys take up one space so it increases your screen real estate. It's great with something in a larger size, but for the Gnex, it just wasn't enough.

It's too bad, I really like the full tablet layout, but the DPI you have to set to get there is just a little excessive. After substantially modifying the various fonts in the system and in my widgets, it seems okay - but the touch points are still too small. I'm going to run it for the day and see, but I think it impacts the usability a little too much.

I think if you could switch to this layout at 180-190 DPI, it'd be just right.

FYI, this works up to 175 DPI. The walkthrough video says 160.

175 is better, still not sure if I'll keep it... the buttons and such are pretty small.

[JB:CM10:HYBRD] PARANOIDANDROID [1.9.2a, True HybridMode, Size & UI on Per App Basi

To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks. This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode. This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually. Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course. Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on. This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.

Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size. You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to. You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot. You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode. Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself. This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.

WARNING: This is a very early blind build, a pre-alpha so to say. It will grow with your constructive input. Consider this a developer thread for now. I am not interested in bug-reports if you did not take at least 30 minutes to find a solid solution and/or provide logcats. Keep in mind, i am building this blind for now as the nexus7 is not yet available in my country. Thx for understanding.

Wonder how many other developers out there put out ROMs without owning the device?

Enough that the answer to that question will terrify you...

When I had my SGS4G, one of the best stock-based ROMs for it was developed by a guy who was putting the ROMs out for 4 months before someone donated a phone to him...
