Root Partitioning my sd card????

starstress

I see this term alot and usually just brushed it off until I saw something about saving a boatload of internal memory soooooo can someone point me to a post or something or just give me a quick rundown (in laymens terms) of what it means .

If i flash a rom and do this does that mean the rom is running off the sd?? how am i saving memory.

quick run down

1)roms are stored on your sdcard
2)you flash the rom to your internal flash memory
3)yes you can run android off a sdcard, but currently not our phones.
4)partition is a designated space containing a filesystem(usually)
5)a filesystem is a way of storing files

so you can format(partition) your sdcard to contain two partitions, one with a ext3 file system and one with fat32 file system for the "sdcard" that you will see.

your phone can then mount the ext3 partition as an extended apps folder. :)

ok, im gonna back up everything and give this a whirl, I figured out rooting and flashing roms without damaging anything so this shouldnt be different
