Root Password Locked Out

My son put a password on his rooted NC and now he can't remember what it is. He has attempted it too many times and now it is on the email and password screen that states "Too many pattern attempts!" I rooted his Nook and am trying my gmail username and password but that doesn't work.

What can I do to get back into the Nook. I will wipe and redo if I need to but am not sure how to do that either.

TIA!

Phillip

Is it an email problem or a NC problem? (Can you get into the Nook, but not email?).

I'd try to log into your email at Google and click the forgot password option and recover your password from there.

If needed we can wipe your computer from recovery, but lets try this first. :D

The problem is with the Nook. No my Gmail is working fine.

This is my 8 year old son who decided he didn't want his older brother using his nook so he password protected it .... but he can't remember the 4 digits (says he only used 3 numbers ). So I digress ...

The Nook is locked! I have attempted to unlock too many times and now it wants me to sign in with my Google account but that does not work?

Ok, then probably time for a factory reset. I assume this is CM7 on your NC (not booting off sdcard).

Power off and boot into recovery (hold down "n" key at startup), then from boot menu, choose emmc and recovery (directions on the screen) using n key and volume keys.

When in recovery, use volume keys to go up/down, power button to go back and "n" key to make selection, under "mounts" menu, choose "format data", choose "yes...", then reboot/restart. Might have to go back to find that. (Sorry, this is from memory.) :D

When you start your phone, you'll have to connect to wifi before you can activate with Google again.

If you've never been in recovery and don't have the recovery menu at start, you'll have to create a bootable sdcard or fail the bootup 8x (?) to factory reset.

So it's been awhile since I rooted this Nook and I have not keep up with the progress. No it's not CM7 I know, too new for this nook. I'm pretty sure I used the Auto Nooter method since that's what I can find on my computer. So the reset method does not work. Any other ideas on how to reset?

Thanks

Ok so I followed all your directions :D. Had to make a bootable SD format everything and return to stock. Now I'm on 1.3 unrooted!

Thinking of trying to root 1.3 .....

Thanks!
