Password managers or not?

Do you use a password manager on your droid?

I have an excel spreadsheet that I use for my passwords. I keep a copy on my phone, and they are hints rather than the passwords themselves.

I've been tempted to use one of the password managars from the marketplace, but have always been a bit concerned that I'm giving the dev the opportunity to steal my passwords.

So what's the general feeling around here - am I being paranoid or just sensible?

My passwords all start with the same case and alphanumeric combination. In the event at work that I have to change the password at work for example, I increment a number on the end.

e.g Pa55w0rd1.

I have a post it stuck to my monitor with the increments on as the password policy ios different for each app.

e.g:

Application 1 = 2
Application 2 = 1
Application 3 = 12.

I always know the prefix for application 3 is Pa55w0rd so its Pa55w0rd12. I then just cross out the number and add the new number when I change. My Prefix is secure and its not one I would forget.

I use password safe pro, backed up to my dropbox (encrypted file). Couldn't possible keep track of them all! Dev is open about security and permissions.
There are versions which have limited permissions if you are nervous about an app like this sending your data out.

I really can't remember all those passwords I have for very different needs, so Keepass + Dropbox does the job for me. :)

i dont keep anything like that on my phone - i do keep password hints on pc in a encrypted doc - but cant see point on phone

If you put that on your Dropbox and sync it to your phone, then you have all your passwords with your regardless of where you are.

Started using 1password about a week ago and my initial thoughts are that its good.

The main programme is on my mac that syncs via an encrypted drop box file. The android app in only a reader/copier, but thats all you really need. Its a tap and your password is copied to your clipboard.

1password also has a chrome extension so its also in your browser as well being a stand alone programme.

The password generator is pretty nifty

It is a bit odd not knowing any of my passwords though, but ignorance is bliss.
