Help Password Removal

Wife installed wifi app on her RAZR and apparently (I wasn't there) "had" to add a password to the start screen. Now when the phone rings she has to enter the password to answer and she's about crazy. How do I remove the password? Has latest OS for her Droid RAZR
 
That works for now. And thank you very kindly! I will continue to look for ways to actually remove the password 'cause' I know it will lock 30 minutes later and the phone will ring etc. By the way, I sell Glocks! Nice avatar.

If she wants to use that app / free hotspot then the app is necessary and with the app you must have security screen lock. With the settings as I suggest, she will rarely see the lock screen. I also use an older app called NO LOCK which really is a plus. Can tell you the occasional screen lock appearing is no big deal in light of the free hotspot.

Glocks sales......... yeah, but my ears would have really perked up if you told me you had ammo for sale / were an ammo seller.. :D

You can disable the screen lock, but it also disables Foxfi. The instructions are on Foxfi's overview and "what's new" page at the app site in the play store. After you remove the certificate, go into security/password and select "none"

I disabled Foxfi until I travel this summer, then will put up with the lock screen to have Foxfi.
 
CornelR ......... brobox in his post gave you info in regard to getting rid of the security screen lock. As he stated, this disables FoxFi. He did not mention that it was NOT necessary to uninstall PDAnet+. Do know that it takes about 30 seconds to do as he mentioned and about 30 seconds to re-do the certificate and then FoxFi is operational again. After Foxfi is disabled if you click on the PDAnet+ icon, you will be given the option of setting up the certificate and within seconds your FoxFi is again operational. I mention this so you and others that read this, thread know that there is no reason to uninstall PDAnet+. Just go through the motions to disable the security screen lock if you must 8-) and leave PDAnet+ alone until you need to use FoxFi.

Ok ... Also, do know that the security screen lock settings that you setup per my hint in that other thread will remain unchanged and not need to be redone.
 
I have been trying to remove my password protect and have been unable, now I see this thread. I also have Foxfi (payed version) and went to use it and it started all this crap with a password. I don’t consider having to use a password a solution and neither is extending the lock out time to 30 minutes. So in reading these threads I have to delete FoxFi to get my phone back? Are there any other apps that make a wifi that don’t need to have a password?

No one is forcing you / twisting your arm, to use PDAnet+ / FoxFi... YOU want the hotspot turned on and at no $ cost to you, then you will have to be a bit flexible. Of course, you are more then welcome to pay Verizon lots of $ each and every month for hotspot.... your choice. As for me, dealing with a security screen popping up occasionally is a small small price to pay for no $'s paid, hotspot.

Ever hear the expression "You want you cake and to eat it to" .... this comes to mind when I read posts such as yours.
 
I was happy with ICS, I didn't ask for JB and didn't know I had it until I noticed all my fonts had changed. I would gladly return this "cake" and go back to ICS if I knew how. I was given a problem to deal with with no explanation as to what was wrong with my phone. Is this an Android issue, Motorolla issue, or Verizon issue? I've been scrambling to find out. I'm glad you have all the answers and apologize if my statements make you sick.

wrhatt......... No, no an issue with Android, Motorola, Verizon, your phone, etc.. It is just the way it is.. no issues)... Suggest you take the time to learn more about your smart phone and what you got yourself, lets say into..
 
I will get to the point, is this FoxFi issue with all Android phones running JB? If I get a Samsung Slll would I still have the password problem, is it limited to Motorolla? Will deleting FoxFi stop the password issue? I know I'm harping on this app but I use my phone while driving as my music player, GPS, emails, texting (not while driving), home inspections, and photos. Having to enter a password every time I grab my phone is very irritating. I rarely use FoxFi but when I need a wifi for my computer out in the field the app is priceless. Thank you for your help.

Your best option would be to root and install wifi tether, or pay vzw an additional $30 a month for the tether use and use the stock tether app! Otherwise fox fi is your only option for free tether use on a non rooted phone, and it is not specific to any phone brand (the screen lock feature is the work around the Vzw free tether block) and has to be implemented on any phone! As far as removing the screen lock, if you go to the fox fi app in play store and read the entire description, it gives you the instructions on how to remove the screen lock! Good luck!
 
wrhatt..... Read every post in this thread as all the answers you seek are in this thread. You talk of a "password problem" when it is not a problem.. It is a fact the if you want to use FoxFi you have to have the security screen enabled. If you do not want to use Foxfi then temporarily remove the screen lock / certificate as explained in this thread. Does not matter whether you have a Razr or whatever, if you use the app FoxFi you have to have the security screen lock / certificate. IF you setup security screen lock up properly you will only occasionally see the screen locked where you have to enter your pattern.

Totally disagree with this. Why root or pay VZW for the hotspot....

You can remove the security lock screen / certificate in 30 seconds or so (this disables FoxFi) and when you need FoxFi you can re-establish the security lock screen / certificate in 30 seconds or so and FoxFi is re-enabled again. Also, if you set up the security lock screen properly it is seen very little.
 
I forgot to mention that you can use fox fi without the screen lock active threw blue tooth (if your laptop has bluetooth) or usb tethering (if connecting your phone to laptop via usb cable is an option for you)! And again, good luck my friend!
 
Just trying to let wrhatt know the screen lock can be dealt with very, very easily. You can either set screen lock up properly and see it only occasionally or you can just disable it (in seconds) and just enable it when you need to use FoxFi. (takes seconds) No need to uninstall PDAnet+/Foxfi, to root or pay Verizon $30 or $50 for the hotspot. To have -free- hotspot when needed is well worth the seconds to say enable screen lock / certificate temporarily and then disable it when you no longer need FoxFi functional. As for me, I just deal with the screen lock .... easy to deal with as I rarely see it thanks to tweaking of security lock settings....
 
I just went through this mess. Downloaded PDANet/Foxfi. Couldn't tolerate the password lock. Removed PDANet so don't need password/pattern but couldn't figure out how to get rid of the password.
Without having to do a hard reset you can remove the password/pattern.
Go to Settings then Security. Find "Clear credentials" and select. Then go into screen lock and select none.
I do like the Slide and reselected it.
Hope this helps even though I'm late to the thread.
