Help Password reset?

Hi, my friend put a password on my Wildfire, and he's forgotten it, like the idiot he is. Problem is, it was a word, not a pattern, and inputting the wrong one over and over doesn't offer an option to reset/restore the password.

Is there any way to rectify this?

isn't that the point of a password? not to let you change anything if its wrong. so do you mean you are locked out of phone completely? if so.....
try going through hboot menu, take battery out, replace, hold volume down key and press power button. this should bring up hboot let it load(about 10 secs) then volume down key to clear storage, press power button, volume up to wipe data and factory reset.you should then be able to reboot, but you will be required to set phone up again. only wipes data from internal memory, not sim or sd

If it is a sim password the network operator might have a overide code or be able to issue a new sim without the code.
