Root [Patch] 32m Heap Size, + True Streaming Audio Fix

Go listen to Pandora and notice it sounds like the inside of a toilet.

Then apply this and notice the difference.

Yea but I would rather the toilet sound in Pandora than no sound at all in Hulu.

Adrynalyne I thought you used Hulu? (or was it just that you included it in your rom?) I am surprised that is not a deal breaker for you.

I guess its a matter of whatever you care for more. I guess most will pick music but I don't want to give up Family Guy!

I prefer good music over poor video. No matter how you cut it, Hulu quality sucks.

Also, because Hulu isn't even sanctioned for mobile devices, I doubt you will see any official fix come out this, until it is.

Until then, we have to wait for someone to hack on it, and cross our fingers.

Of course, I think Flash sucks regardless, and have it uninstalled.

I give folks the option though. I also will make this an option for my roms. I will not force it on anyone.

Yea I hear ya but the hulu app is ok, family guy comes out pretty good.

I think the reason I am not that bothered by pandora is because I usually listen on wifi and though the phones speaker, so I am not expecting the quality to be that good to begin with.

Funny thing is other apps like radiotime sound fine (also listening through wifi) but the quality sounds really good to me.

Upon trying to apply the phone neutral patch to my EVO running HTC-OTA-3.26.651.6-Final-Froyo-Rooted-Odexed with Amon Ra recovery I get the following error:

E:Missing File:
system/app_store/LatinIME.orig.apk
E:Verification failed

Any suggestions?

Unzip the file and see what is contained inside.

This is an unsigned update, as clockwork doesn't need them.

So, if amon ra requires it, you will need to sign it. Also, can you disable signature verification?

Lastly, I didn't touch any keyboard files, which leads me to believe you might have accidently run the wrong update (not from this thread).

adrynalyne,

Here is what I see in the zip:

I believe Amon Ra does require signed files, perhaps I should try signing it.

Thanks for helping, I'm excited to try this patch out!

iolaus,

Would you be willing to switch to clockwork temporarily to install it?

These files can also be pushed manually to /system/lib.

Yea, I can switch over to ClockWork and try it via that recovery. I'll give it a shot and let you know what I find.

Thanks, keep me updated.

I compiled these as a generic build, there should be no reason why any Froyo phone can't run them.

The first patch contains a build.prop file for the Dinc, thats why I don't tell everyone to get that.

I tried installing this patch and I am now getting stuck on the htc EVO 4G boot screen. I am using Fresh 3.1.0.1, don't know if that would have been an issue.

I'm getting the same thing on stock 2.2. I'm giving it a bit longer to see if it will boot but it's not looking good.

-UPDATE-

Would not boot for me either. Stuck at boot screen. :(

Are you two game to try another patch? I will work on one today and PM you, if so.

I'd be happy to give it a shot. I just upgraded to 2.2 last evening and haven't reconfigured my phone so I'm not worried about losing any setting should I have to wipe it again.
