Root [PATCH] SOS M | VER 2.6.1 | *VMshooter MMS Patch*

MMS does not work in the AOSP app, edited OP to display this. Make sure you are using a third party app like Go SMS or similar. This is a bug within the ROM, of which I cannot fix.

Dammit xD
I could have sworn I read that the patch would fix MMS!

Do you know of any ROMs, either from EVO V 4G or Evo 3D, that are sense-less and are stable? Meaning as little bugs as possible. Preferably one that has MMS working?

I HATE Sense with such a passion dude!

haha :p

MMS works fine. You just have to use an app like goSMS. I sent and received an MMS message just fine immediately after using this ROM. GoSMS is superior to the stock messenger app anyways.

I use Chomp SMS and I tried to send and receive but no luck

so if i update to the new version, mms will break? it would need a new patch?

Edit: Nevermind I just updated to the latest Rom, and MMS is working.

Technically, the only reason it wouldn't work would be if swagstr made updates to the framework or the build.prop. Those are the only two things that I changed. It seems like swag didn't make any framework changes, but I still will be updating soon.

Thanks man, I'll look into it when I get time tomorrow, hopefully won't have lots of schoolwork to do.

I've been trying to fix MMS on other ROMS, but it seems this only works on SOS M. I know, you specified it on the OP, but I would just like to know your procedure to fix the MMS on SOS, and maybe I'll be able to figure out how to fix the MMS settings for other ROMS. Can you tell me the instructions you are following?

MMS fix I got here:

Although I would like to take more credit for this than I actually deserve, there really was not much to this fix. When I first tried this rom, it would recognize that I received MMS, but it would not download the picture. So what I ended up doing first was editing the build.prop to match up with Virgin settings and info. I also pulled the mms.apk from JMZ deodexed rom and swapped that out into this rom. After I did that, I pulled apart the framework-res.apk and swapped out the apns.xml from JMZ deodexed rom framework-res.apk. What made it easier on this rom is the fact that it is already based on the Virgin leak. There maybe something else in there that could prevent it on other 3D roms but in theory other roms based on that leak with the above modifications should work. All those changes may not even be necessary, but all I know is MMS works and there is nothing that I can find not working properly in the rom.

Sorry guys, gonna try to get to updating this when I can, been really busy lately.

By the way, @Chingling, Awesome avatar! The "Sex Drive" movie Doughnut costume!
Almost whizzed my pants when I saw that thumbnail! Class(ic) act!

I have a Virgin Evo V that is rooted and S-off with HBoot 1.04.2000, TWRP 2.2.2.0, PRI 2.17.651, Radio 1.13.652, and Harmonia 3.15 ROM. I was under the impression that this combination would fix my MMS woes, but it has not.

I've downloaded your MMS fix, and am downloading SOS M 2.6.1. I see that I need to update HBOOT to 1.4 or better.

In order to streamline the process, Is there a preferred HBOOT?

Also, is the HTC 2.17 or 2.89 kernel preferred (I realize these are HBOOT dependent)?

I'm currently using Handcent SMS, but might give GoSMS a shot since it seems many like it.

Thanks!

This patch is only for SOS. I believe its compatible with the 1.04 and 1.4 and up, I use 1.04 personally. Kernel comes with the ROM. Just download the ROM from the XDA OP, flash it, then flash my ROM. Swag is working on compatibility with our V's in AROMA, so that'll be awesome.

I have a couple of questions (about problems I'm having) about this patch. Sorry to bring the thread back up if it isn't being watched.

I just recently got a Sprint Shooter flashed to VM, and everything is working except MMS. I installed everything as instructed, and I still get nothing.

The phone was on the newest OTA update (2.89 kernel, 1.58 HBOOT) and I unlocked it, rooted it, S-OFF (so now I have 1.58.5858 HBOOT) and all that fun stuff before installing SOS.

At first I installed SOS with the super data wipe and just leaving the 2.17 kernel, but that messed up some of the flashing work, and I had to install the 2.89 to fix it.

I tried the patch after that, and no success. I reinstalled SOS without the wipe, and left the 2.17 kernel, repatched, and still no MMS.

Any idea what the problem could be? Does the patch only work on the 2.17 kernel? Should the patch be installed before booting SOS after it's installed?

(As a side note, I just checked the kernel in the About menu, and it says I have 3.0.16-g4211684, which I see as the VM 2.89 kernel, unless I'm getting things confused. Does this mean the 2.17 didn't get installed when I reinstalled SOS?)

Not sure if you'd be able to answer all of my questions, but help would be appreciated :3

ext4 refuses to flash your patch. Any idea why?

EDIT: Nevermind. I got it now. Had to reboot and let the ROM load, then go back and flash the Patch.

Still not able to receive MMS, though... With HTC MMS or Go SMS.

Hmmm....it does sound like the ROM wasn't flashed correctly there. What recovery are you on? Make sure that the ROM installs correctly, depending on recovery it might not be installing the correct kernel for some reason. Other than that I don't know what to tell you. Sorry man.
