Help Patchy GSM reception after screen replacement

mrkipling

Lurker
I've recently replaced the LCD in my orange branded HTC desire. Since doing so the GSM reception has been very patchy, with the signal indicator fluctuating wildly & dropping out completely.

At the moment i've resorted to having to call my voicemail to force through text messages & missed call alerts, but trying to make a call takes numerous attempts.

When I can successful get a signal & make a call the reception is fine, but as soon as the call is terminated the signal issue starts again.

Does anyone have any suggestions how I can remedy this? where is the GSM antenna located in the desire?

I was under the impression the antenna was in the smaller plastic cover at the base of the phone - i've tried carefully lifting the spring contacts that connect this cover to the main-board, but this hasn't had any effect, except possibly improving the 3G reception.

Thanks,

Mark

Well, in my opinion you have 3 options:

1) Re-open and have another tinker about until you get the desired result (seriously - no pun intended)
2) Send your phone to a phone repair shop and hope for the best.
3) Change the LCD back and see if there is any difference.

Not really the best answers - but I feel like it needs some specialist attenion..
