Help PC thinks it's a CD Rom

I searched the threads here and found a post about turning off USB Debugging mode. That at least made the drive appear on my computer. It appears as a Verizon mobile device for a few moments and then becomes a CD rom drive that I cannot access! HELP!

When i first plugged in the USB device it did appear that way, but then on the phone on the bottom of the screen there's a button after you press USB mass storage that says something like "USB mode" press that, and your computer will begin to recognize it as a portable storage device.

It has a hidden partition somewhere that autolaunches to install drivers and Verizon's software.

These are generally written to be identified as a CD drive to prevent overwriting
