PC to phone data transfer problems via usb

ILM

Newbie
Hi

I'm wanting to transfer some music from my pc to the Desire via a USB that came with the phone. I've chosen "mount as disc drive"

I tried doing one bands albums and that was fine as a trial run, just dumped them in Removable Disc F and they are there and work. Tried again later and now wont work and I get this message-

An unexpected error is preventing the operation. Make a note of this error code, which might be useful if you get additional help to resolve this problem
Error 0x80070057: the parameter is incorrect,

The same if trying photo's.

I can see the USB icon in the top left corner of the screen and when checking SD & phone storage section I've got 15.64gb of 15.98gb free so it's recognised the micro sdhc card I bought.

any ideas why it will not transfer???

thanks

I've just restarted the PC and turned the phone off and on and have got exactly the same message as in first post.

driving me mad!!!!!!

How long have you had the card / how much have you used it? How much was it? Where was it from?

The answer to your question probably is that 16GB card should show no more than around 14.9GB capacity in windows. If it shows more then it is probably fake.

16GB in Hardware terms (uses decimal) is 16,000,000,000 Bytes. In actuality its 1,073,741,824 Bytes.

(16/1,073,741,824)*1,000,000,000 will show you the amount it is in Binary (what windows and other OS's use).

So the fact it shows 15.98GB capacity cannot be true.

The windows error 0x80070057 is Invallid Parameter if that helps... I suspect not, though.

thanks but no thanks, I think, not a clue about that but I have to admit I may have bought a duff card from the Net, I'll try the 4gb card that came with the phone and see if it is any different.

I'll be back shortly......................

I'm sorry to say, but you've bought a fake card, not a duff one. Unless that's the same thing?

correct, I meant fake but did not have the heart to say it, school boy error as the 4GB works fine.

where would you suggest I get a 16GB that I can rely on without paying the earth for it, as a 32GB is out of my price range.

thanks

I've just noticed that it says Class 2 on the card, is that something to bear in mind??

what should I be getting instead?

thanks for the tips, that Ebuyer card is no more so will look around this evening.

if anyone has any other sites please let me know

thanks

again

Basically anything reputable. PC World, Play.com, Ebuyer, Dabs... Anything that isn't a reseller like ebay or amazon.

hi

I formatted the card and went to properties and it is only a 2GB (1.86GB on scanning).

I bought this off eBay (schoolboy error) and have put in a complaint and opened a case dispute.
Only way to get back at these fakers, will not do it again!!
