pendo 4.0 ics spotted

i've seen a pendo pad in coles mobile catalog in melbourne, got one today
thinking of ripping the rom of it. (need know how.)

Hi there, you seem like a pretty knowledgeable person. Is it possible to put Android 4 on an earlier version of a Pendo Pad with Android 2 - which is crap and doesn't run flash or Skype?

the old pendo pad has a rockchip 2818 processor
and the new pendo pad ics has the Allwinner Cortex A8 processor

I've heard that trying to upgrade the Old Pendo firmware any thing above what it had intended is useless to try. (will get heaps of hardware incompatibility problems)

Caution: to those never used the recovery options carefull
you could wipe everything on your device. :hmmmm:

recovery mode

recovery mode = vol down (hold) + back (hold) + power on

you'll get a green ! android on screen

"back button " will turn on or off the recovery options
"volume up" and "volume down" are the movement buttons
and "power button" is the OK
the ../ line within the options is to go back

Hi bubbasd,

I have the same PendoPad 4 and managed to lose the stock recovery files while trying to get Google Apps working. I did get it working in the end, but I managed to screw up the back camera.

I am wondering if you would be able to supply me with a copy of a ClockworkMod backup or something similar.

I've downloaded the update.img firmware from the PendoPad website but am unable to figure out how to use this with CWM or ADB.

Unzip and copy nand dd's to sdcard.
CWM with ADB in Recovery mode will give you root access, you can then do via adb shell (usb):

mount /sdcard
dd if=/sdcard/nanda.dd of=/dev/block/nanda
dd if=/sdcard/nandc.dd of=/dev/block/nandc
dd if=/sdcard/nandd.dd of=/dev/block/nandd
dd if=/sdcard/nandg.dd of=/dev/block/nandg
umount /sdcard
reboot
