People about to do update

I am 99.99% sure that the update can be installed by having it on the SD card of the phone and HBOOTing (Volume Down + Power On) which you DO NOT need root level access to do. How do you think we were able to do the update that gave us root? The exact same process. So those of you saying that getting us the logcat won't help others get the update faster are just plain wrong.

Also, with the past OTAs they released the ota.zip file afterwards so people unable to do it over the air could do it with the .zip on the SD card of the phone using HBOOT.

I'm saying the just because they didn't fix the audio bug it doesn't mean that the v3=ota.
The fixes they implanted could be minimal and not big bugs like the audio, but again I say we cut it here and get back on topic.
I could wrong I hope I'm not wrong otherwise leakers are going to be stuck with acrapy OS.

Yes. I am basing it on more than the audio bug. I base it on all of the improvements that were supposed to be included, but are reported to be absent, just as they are in the v3 leak. And the same bugs happen to be present in both leak3 and OTA. All of those similarities plus all of the build numbers etc. being exactly the same lead me to believe there is no difference.
Trust me I dont want it to be the same. I held out with my 1.5 because I was happy with my phone. Sure I wanted voice to text and Nav, but I always figured I am happy now on 1.5, so Ill just wait until I can get the most polished update to make sure I stay happy with a properly working device.
Now I come to find out that when I get the OTA, I will be downloading bugs on to my phone and it is mandatory...
I would love to be wrong.
I think I am right though, so I am already hoping for a patch to fix the bugs on this update and I dont even have it yet!
But sure, I guess we wont know for 100% certain until we have the OTA on our own phones. No sense in going back and forth over it. Just struck a nerve when you called someone a **** for their comments, when all of the evidence so far points to them being correct. But Im not even interested in having this debate. Back on topic.

Ok put it straight.

We don't need the zip off a phone, we just need the url from the logs.

Once we have that leakers, 1.5ers and rooters can all have the new update right then and their. Rooter's will of course have to wait for a kind(grumpy?) dev to make a root rom out of it, but that takes a whole 5minutes for a basic one.

Sounds good. Now if someone, anyone! can just get a damn OTA notification!

Hmmm. Sounds more like the devs wrote this than htc. LOL
Ok, I have sdk and junk and can do this. No prob, That is if I ever get it.
I am now running ver2 of 2.1 leak. Works fine on my phone by the way.
Just hope this will help to get root for 2.1.

logcat!!! will put 150% into when update arrives.

Sorry if I'm way off here but looking at the Verizon "Software Upgrade" instructions they seem saying that your phone will download the update and then notify you of it so you can agree to install it. I think this for two reasons, first there is no mention of downloading after the notification, only that your phone will reboot and install. Second they mention that you won't get the notice while roaming without wifi.

I'm no cell phone professional but it seems that the phone downloads the update first, then tells you about it... This means that unless you are debugging the whole time you won't get the url.

Any thoughts?

We already know part of the url we just need the name of the zip so we know the exact url.

What makes you think with or without ota we dont already have a crappy OS? I dont feel android is as well developed as other mobile platforms. Pretty sure v3 is ota. Take it for what is.

So hey, if anyone is comfortable using ADB and wants to get us the URL of the new OTA update, we'll be very grateful. Then people won't have to wait for it to appear on their phones; they'll be able to flash it immediately.

I'm running OTA-2.1 on my phone right now, and will continue to do so until I get it, or somebody else posts the URL.
