People application keeps force closing due to Facebook!

Android newbie having problems with his HTC Desire!...

My People seems to be syncing with Facebook fine (their status updates show up, and it uses their FB profile photo), but when I select "View Facebook Profile", I get the following error message:

"The application People (process com.android.htccontacts) has stopped unexpectedly. Force Close."

Any help would be appreciated!

I get this same error when I tap on a person in my people widget. I have seen other related reports that it happens with people who are syncing with facebook contacts but the contact I am tapping on is not a facebook contact so I am also looking for a cure. Google search is not bringing up anyone on the Evo like me. I am bumping in hopes someone will have some tips for troubleshooting.

BTW, people claim they have to flash their devices to fix this error. I am not about to do that being this device is brand new. I can get this error by accessing a contact to reply to sms via SMSPopup or via notification too so it is not isolated to the widget. This error was happening from the beginning before I had any software installed. This is happening on a variety of contacts inconsistently. Sometimes tapping the contacts on the people widget works and other times it does not. I have not been able to reproduce on demand it through my tests.

Guys, I have the answer for you. Well, it worked for me anyway and seem to make sense.

Your contacts sync with Facebook. The phone requires your log in details to do this. If you change your Facebook password (like I did), it doesn't update the details in the sync. So next time it tries to sync the info, it doesn't work and when you click on the link to profile, it closes.

To fix this, simply go to Settings > Accounts & Sync.

Remove your Facebook account.

Add your Facebook account with the correct details.

Click sync and you're done. Problem solved.

I found that sometimes I would install an app that relates to Facebook it would try to log me in from another location. Facebook sees this as a security risk and takes you through the verification process at which time you have to change your password. Whenever this happens, you will need to go back to your sync account and change the password.

Hi fellas - a slightly different problem but FB related nevertheless!

My GF's photo which is attached to her contact info under 'People' has always been her FB photo. Today I wanted to change this so added a different photo no problem. However, now in the People widget she shows up twice - once with the FB photo and once with the one I added today.

Any ideas?!
