You would think online would be more efficient. Go figure. Dont forget to ask about 100 credit toward service for porting over line if your switching carriers.
thanks for the heads up, i'll def call tomorrow and cancel because to wait 4 weeks is just too much for me. i know it's a popular phone but 4 weeks
never even heard about that thanks a lot. because i'm switching from at@t and to cancel that contract is going be $95 plus taxes and other charges so you just saved me a lot. appreciate it

Does that only apply at Sprint stores, or is that for places like Best Buy and Radio Shack as well?
i know that the evo has been such a hot item that people are finding it difficult to find the phone in stores around the country. i am looking to buy the phone online through sprint.com as a new customer, however, i have not seen it available online for close to a whole month!
does anyone know when sprint will make more available online? has anyone been able to purchase one online in the past couple weeks?

i've seen it once online. it was like 10pm one night. according to the sprint customer service they are always popping up online. yeah right.
best bet is to call your local stores (Sprint, BB, radioshack) and ask to be put on the list, and make sure they knwo you are a new customer.

Like you, I waited ages for it to pop up online, in stores etc. What I did was call sprint (im an existing customer btw, dont know if that made a difference or not) and had a sales rep process my order. Phone was on back order obviously, but it was shipped 3 days after the order was processed, and delivered another 2 days after. Also, being that yyour a new customer, you can go directly to the HTC website and purchase it from them. This link should get you started:

Forget online. Forget online at any outlet. Theres 3 I know of - letstalk, hotwire and sprint. forget those.
I called sprint. Had her set me up an account. Got my account number and then started calling local Sprint stores. First store had one on hold for a guy who never came. "ill be there in five minutes".
Its pretty awesome I have to say. (I feel like Cartman gloating : D )
The credit I read about online but they gave me in the store. Idk if satellites do the same. I doubt it. Go to a store. Theres tons of sprint stores. Dont go to one in a mall or where there are lots of people. Two stores told me they get them weekly.

wow guys, all i did was wait til my upgrade date, 08/01/10, and then i called the Sprint store the minute they opened and bam, they got them in that morning, i said hold one and i will be right there...they had sold the others while i was enroute...just keep callin when they open and ask them to hold it for you....
I get the feeling that replacements are not priority. You probably fall after new orders.

yeah, becuase your replacement will be a refurbished phone. and they just don't have any readily availble for you. its not like the phone is in short supply, new ones are available. a refurb should come up soon, your not waiting for htc to build and ship them. maybe call sprint customer service and tell them you need a phone now, maybe you'll get lucky and they'll send you a new one.
because this thread is from 6 months ago about the shortage of evo's. they are not realy in short supply anymore. that and no one is getting help from this thread. just a few new posts that they got phones ordered. except the one guy looking for a refurb to come up.

my micro usb port came off the mother board on the evo. i had to go round an round with sprint until i found one person that new what customer service was all about

This is is going to be rampant. why? the battery sux so bad that we have to constantly be plugging and unplugging the charger in the micro usb. This will be the palm treo's sound plug problem.

To tell you the truth i really think it is the charger we use to charge the thing. It has them to lil medal hooks an i think pulling on it everytime to unplug it is slowly breaking the port off from the mb.
