Performance changer inconvenient on Tf300t (Jellybean 4.2)

Hey, this is my first post so I hope I'm in the right place. Anyway, I just as of recently updated my TF300T to Jellybean 4.2. I love mostly everything about the new launcher and all of its features, but I'm finding that changing my performance mode has now become a slight journey. Before I could simply tap the time/date in the bottom right hand corner and the shade would pop up, showing many options, including the performance switcher, however I'm sure you all already know that. Now with 4.2 I cannot find that option on any of the shades, and I have to venture into my settings just to change it. My question is, are there and tricks to doing it faster, or are there any apps I could be referred to that will give me the option? Thanks for taking the time and reading guys.

PS, I do know that I can go back to the previous launcher, but I do not wish to.

As it did mine, until I changed it by going into the settings. You'll find the option under "Launcher." The new layout is pretty awesome.

Ah I see. Had no idea the update also brought a new launcher.

Resembles the Nexus 10 UI and is much smoother than when using the 4.1 launcher.

Thanks for pointing that out :)

As for your initial question.. It's got me stumped now too! I'll see if I can find anything to shorten the steps but I'm still quite new to this tablet actually. Only had it 2 months!

I'll let you know of anything I find.

For all who didn't know previously, as of Android OS 4.2.x - Google makes us unlock developer settings manually. Settings > about device > tap build number rapidly until toast notif for "becoming a developer" has appeared (about 7-8 taps).

I'm sorry for my ignorance, but I'm fairly new to Android. What did I just do/enable by becoming a developer?

Well, that unlocked developer settings in your settings menu. Within that sub-section, you can enable/disable certain features or dumb them down as well (animations in particular).

You can put an Asus Settings Shortcut widget on your home screen. When setting it up choose Asus customised settings as the option. The when you hit the widget it that will bring up the menu that you need.

Not perfect but the best I can think of. Or you can do as I have done, choose to use the old launcher, which I prefer.

Do you know if this will allow me to create a shortcut to the performance modes?

Hmmmm, try the ADW launcher. You will be able to make a custom shortcut to any place you want on your tablet. Just take the time to learn how to set it up. I promise it can be done.

ADW >_<

Never liked that launcher. Being that the tablet is on JB now, I would recommend Apex or Nova (Nova being my favorite of the two).

I've been with ADW EX now for several years. It has many options that make it my favorite. That and the fact that it's one of the fastest launchers out there are the reason I continue to use it. I also like the new updated MIUI launcher. I haven't used it on my tablet, only on my phone. Still a nice launcher though and I recommend giving it a try if you've never used it.

As for Nova, i've tried it and the paid version of ADW can do anything it can and more. I also have about 50 themes for ADW. I like the fact that you can use other launcher themes with it. Seeing as how I like to continually change the look of my devices, it comes in very handy. :)

Not knowing whether necromancing is frowned upon or not, I thought it better to ask my question here that to open a new thread, since it's the same as the OP.

I don't feel too bad about using the old layout, but if I could, I'd love to use the new one, but for the inability to easily change the performance mode.

Has anyone found a way that isn't a work-around?
