Permanently Bypass Activation Screen

What's the easiest way to permanently bypass the activation screen? I want to give my wife's now deactivated Fascinate to my daughter to use for games and music, but I made the mistake of doing a factory reset first.

I found the *#83786633 trick, but that is a temporary solution. Is there a permanent one?

try using odin on your computer and flashing geewiz to it... it has alot of the crapware taken of and alot more customization options than stock.. and as far as i remember it doesnt do the whole activation process...

Root and freeze SamsungSetupWizard.apk (not SetupWizard.apk) in case anyone still needs this.

Cool, but can I root it if i cant get by the Verizon activation screen?
