I keep getting permission denied, when trying to do the recovery steps, ive checked and double checked setting, debugging on, umounted and in charge only, adb shell has $. i try the adb shell mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system, i get permission denied, one more item i'm the only one on computer, and the administrator, on PC (vista) , A/V off had to use HTC Drivers to connect after rooting. I am at might witts end here for two days. can some one please help, or list threads that i might have missed or apply to the Eris, "T"

when you are in the adb shell and you see the dollar sign have you tried typing su and see if it changes to #? also look at your phone when you do this to see if it asks for permission on the phone...not sure if this affects pushing the recovery image but it will let you know if you flashed the rooted PBM00IMG.

I'm not sure if you need to use it to push the recovery image I just suggested it to check if your phone is rooted.

when i try to do the SU permission denied shows., 2.1 is on the phone with no problems so how do i check if it is rooted?

i just noticed something i missed, the phone has 2.1 firmware installed but when i do the adb shell i get $ not the # according to grdlocks instructions. it that the cause ? if so how do i fix?

are you sure you downloaded the 2.1root and not one of the 2.1 leaks? also did you check your phone when the computer is telling you permission denied to see if the it is requesting permission to allow adb to access your phone? if you were rooted and you type in su it should show you the # sign then....
