Help Phantom Internal Memory Loss

Corruptt

Lurker
Hello everyone, I have a Desire HD. A couple days ago i had roughly 200mb free internal space, then it got down to 100mb, so i deleted a few larger apps and moved a bunch to SD. I was left with 144mb total internal storage. Last night i put my phone on the charger went to bed, woke up and had the low memory icon, I check to see the size of internal storage and I'm sitting at 8mb free. So just leaving the phone sit for 8ish hours over night made it take up 130mb or so of space. Has anyone else ever had a problem like this before ? I cleared browsing cache and such but the size was very small. Is there a sure fire way to see what is taking up all of this space ? Its like there is something that is constantly writing to the internal storage. Thanks guys.

You should download the app 'history eraser' which has the option to clear all the apps caches you have. Apps such as Facebook and maps use up a lot of space for their caches, and this might solve your issue

I'll definitely do that. But now isnt the apps cache's shown on the manage application screen or no? Also will it erase my HTC settings such as home screen and stuff like that ?

Update to my little problem. I found an app called DiskUsage, and upon running this app it shows were all of your storage is going and whats taking it up. Well it seems my apps are taking 246mb, and my System is taking 885mb. Is this normal for anyone else? im thinking now. And how would i go about fixing the issue at hand ? thanks

I have a total of 100 ish apps, never sent emails to them but i did find 2 folders 300ish mb each ons is OBB other is ASEC the ASEC has all my app APK files in them for some reason, any ideas ? or maybe safe to delete it ? its /mnt/obb and /mnt/asec the obb says 321mb but shows nothing in it for some reason.

If you head to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All -> Menu -> Sort By Size, it will give you a list of the apps and associated data that are taking up the most space on the phone.

What are the biggest offenders?

The applications arn't the problem, but when i sort by size my top 5 apps are adobe flash player 11.1 (12.85mb), Maps (10.70mb), PK AOT (7.67mb), Google+ (7.37mb), Facebook (7.11mb). Those are my top 5, and they only get smaller. ALL of my apps total a size of 246mb thats it. If you download the app called DiscUsage. You will see what im talking about, it shows what internal storage is allocated to what, my apps are 246mb and my System Data is 885mb of a total 1150mb. So basicly somethign is writing to the internal storage, and is showing up as system data files. I'm thinking that my best route atm is to just Hard Reset the phone and be done with it, but i'm shocked no one else has heard of an issue remotely like this. What do you guys think ?

I have the same issue with my Desire HD, my apps don't add up to the amount of space it says I've used up but some times I still get warned that I have no space. My apps probably take up less than 200mb yet the internal ram storage is almost gone... did anyone solve this?
