Help Phantom text messages

Anyone else having problems with the stock messaging app showing you have a new message and there are none? Even if I delete all my texts it shows I have 1 new message. The only way I have been able to get it to reset is to go in and wipe the message apps data/cache. It is good for like 2 days then I get the same error...

yeah i have that too, it tends to go away when i open up a text message from the notifcation bar.

its pretty annoying tho...

happens to me once in a while too. If I can remember correctly it only happened two times ever since I have had the phone.

Same here....has happened twice....last time it deleted my whole friggin inbox.... keeps saying the process has failed if I try to work around it....this with NO apps installed.... Verizon didn't know what to say when I added that....other than giving me HTC's phone number, but of course they're closed....

I had the same problem with my Windows phone. It got annoying fast. The only way to fix it was to reset the whole phone. I just learned to live with it. Not sure I expect a new phone to behave the same way.

It is actually very reproducable. When you get a text, and hit the back button the phone it takes 2-5 seconds to clear the 'unread' count from the inbox. If you hit back AGAIN, before it clears it, it never updates the unread count. You don't need to hard reset to fix it.... just wait until you get a new text. When you read that text, and let the inbox catch up, it should then mark all messages as read.

I have that same problem, not only that but the stock SMS app also keeps force closing on my and freezing- it's extremely annoying. Can't even send a text without it taking 5 minutes ..

How to clear somthin????

top get rid of the "phantom text messages"

Settings>>>applications>>>Manage app>> running tab>>>messages>>>clear data.

save your pictures and videos first ^^

but it seems that this is the only way i can get rid of it without system restore or other crap i read online. hope this helps as it did me.:)
