Phone acting weird

Early last week, my phone died so I plugged it into a 12v car charger in the car and when it was charging it said 0% charge and the percentage would never go up, but it still displayed that it was charging. Then suddenly the screen just shut off and my phone would just vibrate every 5 seconds, so I took out the battery but it just kept vibrating. Then eventually, the phone turned back on again, but the same thing happened again in about 10 minutes, so I just unplugged it and left it be. When I got home, I plugged it in the wall with my normal charger and again, the battery icon kept saying 0% and it would not go up even though it was charging. I turned both my power savings modes off and then the battery percentage starting showing that it was charging, so I let it charge turned off the whole night, and then the whole next day I was on it until it died, so that the battery would reset itself. My dad said that 12v car chargers are too much voltage for phones, and that it fried my phone but I though that all car chargers were the same and it was okay to plug in anything you need to charge. He also said that the component that converts the 12v into 5 that charges my phone may have fried, but I really don't know the actual problem is. Also, lately my phone has been very weak on battery power and looses about 10% battery every 5 minutes when I'm not even using it, and it gets very very hot randomly. I have no apps open and I am barely using it. My father told me to do a factory reset, so I have and I am going to not download any apps and see how the battery power is for a few days. if it is back to normal, then it had something to do with an app that I downloaded that had a bug in it. If it still does not act normal, then it has something to do with the actual software of the phone.

If anyone has experienced this before, or has anything to say that could help, please do.
