Phone Activation Mishaps

Ok, so i have heard that their was problems with the phone activation and you basically got the run around, so my question is whats the plan you was on when you activated the phone and where exactly was it activated and do you think its better if i just let Virgin Mobile activate it instead of the Retail Store you bought it from

No problems at all 1 week before i got my Evo v i raised my plan from $25 to $35 then went to BB thy activated my new phone with no problem at all it works grate.

If you are already on virgin and already on the $35 plan (or above) the retailer activation may go smoothly as long as you turn both phones off prior to the swap.

If you are porting your number in from another carrier or still need to switch your plan, do not allow the retailer to activate. Headaches will follow.

Well thanks for that and I'm on the highest plan they offer so that shouldn't be a problem. One more thing, if you are on a higher plan then recommended do they include the wireless hotspots in the plan or do u still have to pay the 15?

You still have to pay the 15 but they are basically making you pay for an extra GB of unthrottled data.

Ok thanks for the info. And I'm not gonna activate that feature unless I'm going to start my own home hotspot and charge a dollar for each connection.

My mom had to half it with me on this phone and she had to let RS do it cause as she said: "They know what they are doing. They are the experts and smarter then you when it comes to phones, now better then you do. So let them do it or you're not getting my half of the money." Yeah me and my mom don't get along And thinks just cause I dropped one phone in some water I am stupid with phones. But that's besides the point and off topic.

So it took them two hours to get the thing activated and what not. I know that my Optimus V was not turned off, it was stolen from me. (Good thing I had just wiped it (Phone/SD) and was using it as a media player at the time) So yeah that could of been why it took so long.

O.Ok well that shouldn't be a probably for me. And I know what u mean when u say you and your mom don't agree or get along. But the people at RS And other retailers is not smarter they just lucky. They have the same amount of brains about electronics than you at times the customer is always smarter. I'm a Techno geek so I would know.

I had a problem but this is whats going on they have the have the new 4G system and i had to call so they could get it working because i got failed .. there system is not ready for auto programming on the new 4G network they have to do it manually after 5min on the phone with the tech he said don't worry this a problem on there end with the new 4g phones and that they are aware of this and have to get there systems updated

As posted elsewhere, that 3.5 GB of data is going to be gone in a hot minute downloading on 4G, and the the throttling begins.

at some point you need to either buy the phone or dont. if a small chance of a 5 minute call to tech support is even factored into your decision, skip it and go elsewhere.

Some folks have reported a much longer process than that when they had issues (over the course of days). So saying it is only 5 minutes may be completely incorrect. It could very well not be an issue, but there are still some people reporting that it is an issue for them.

Remember some folks see the issues that others have and want some more input before spending hundreds of dollars. There is nothing wrong with asking questions. :)

if there wasnt already this thread http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-v-4g/565144-whats-point.html i may agree. its great to be an educated consumer, but gotta decide eventually.

Never said I wasn't getting the phone. I would rather ask questions and be prepared for anything that may happen and probably find a way to work around other things if possible. But thanks for the info.
