Help phone automatically adding international dialing codes

Had the same problem myself. There were 2 solutions I found, only one worked.

There is an app (can't remember the name for the life of me now) that allows you to reformat numbers. This didn't really work for me and I ended up having to delete my FB and GMail accounts from the phone and re-sync all my contacts.

The only way I have gotten it to work is by creating a new contact, adding the proper phone number, and then join the contact you created with the FB contact. The number will work just fine and all the info will be joined together.

I believe that the issue comes from the native LG dialer not being able to handle the +1 prefix in numbers. It converts them to 011 which will not dial out. So far the fix above is the only one that I know of.
