Help Phone consistently shuts down at 12% battery

Whenever my phone hits 12% battery it shuts down and when I restart it it's on 0%. Is it normal for a battery to get that far out of sync?

I've tried the usual solutions such as completely discharging and recharging the battery a few times but it still seems to do it.

Thinking about buying a replacement battery but just wondering if anyone has any ideas first.

yeah it usually shuts down around 10% to stop the battery running to 0. If it runs to 0 it breaks it. The idea is to keep a bit of charge in it to "keep the juices flowing". When the juices stop, no more battery.

Oh right, is 10+% not a bit excessive for that though?!

No, its essential. It has to be a certain amount.

Phenomelogical may be able to explain better.

Cool thanks :D

I guess my other phones have lied to me about how much juice they actually have left 'cause they all ran to 0% .. maybe the Desire is just honest :P
