Help Phone died after massive apps update

Been looking at my tablet but suddenly my S2 Jelly Bean phone has "Died".

For some reason it asked me to update ALL apps; 67 of them. Having a full battery and on home wifi I let "Update All" run. It got through most but then it complained that there was no memory left. So I did a "Power off"

Now it will not reboot. It gets to the SAMSUNG logo which just changes from plain to blue edged. I have tried removing the battery and replacing the battery after 5 minutes but no change.

Any ideas please on how to get my S2 restarted?

Power it on. Hold the Volume Down button until it finishes booting up. It should boot with "Safe Mode" in the lower left corner. Uninstall any apps you don't use regularly. Restart and it'll be in normal mode. (The phone won't boot if there's no space left. But Play Store will keep updating until it runs out of space.)

Thanks; should have waited until your reply!!

I found Safe Mode by accident; now done a factory reset.

My mistake was not looking in app management to try to delete some apps. I just looked at storage and saw only 243MB free.

I have all data backup or on SD card so no loss there; will have to reinstall apps; will make sure I only install those I use, not all those that might be useful!
