Phone died!

My Fascinate was fully charged this morning. I spend maybe 30 minutes on the web and then turned off the screen. A half hour later I went to turn it back on and got absolutely no response -- no screen, no buttons. Tried re-plugging in to recharge and the screen and buttons did not light up. Also tried connecting to PC with same result.

Help!!

It's been connected to my PC now for a while and I noticed that although the PC does not see or respond to it, the phone is getting warm to the touch, if that means anything. Still no response to power/lock key.

Hold the up volume key and power button, this will force a reboot. Are you on a custom rom/kernal?

Thanks to fortesque, I pulled the battery, pluged it back in and that seemed to bring it back to life.

However, I immediately got the message that the battery was about at zero and must plug in ASAP.

That tells me that my phone went south because the battery did, although it had been at over 80% when I turned the screen off about 30 - 40 minutes before it showed dead. A short? A rogue app? Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

When I would get a SOD when I reset the phone the battery would be substantially lower. Pulling the battery while the phone is drawing power can also cause this.

This is something that had never happened to my fascinate until the latest OTA update. Since then it has happened 4 times. Every time it happens I feel a slight vibration. The phone is then unresponsive. I have to do a battery pull reset. When I get the phone back running again the battery will be very low compared to before. This phone has been a colossal fail for verizon. I hope they have learned some lessons.

Time to get a replacement!
