Phone Dies over night

For the last two days i have had my battery charged fully before i went to bed, i would have all the tasks killed as well. And by 7am i would hear the phone shut off, it just dies completely. Has anyone else had this?

Definitley see if its an app thats rebooting itself and constantly running in the background. My phone sees heavy use while I'm at work and than I use it as a media player at the gym. This definitley shouldn't be happening to you though.

I went to bed last night the phone was at 75% (according to Battery Monitor) and woke up 6 hours later to see it had only dropped to 71%.

had the same problem.. full charge at 12am after 8+ hours of charging..at 7am it was dead.. but when i went to work it completely charged after 3 hours and now im getting atleast 10+ hours on a charge..

Hmmm lets see so far i charged my phone 2 hours ago, and in 1 hour and 40 minutes i lost 10 percent without any use...

You can use Anycut to create a shortcut to BatteryHistory. It allows you to see which apps have been draining the battery through CPU, network, GPS and more.

One of the more useful features is the Partial Wake listing. I found out that HootSuite was killing my battery. So I removed it.

Today, I spent 8 hours at work and, at 6:30 p.m., I still had 87 percent left.

BatteryHistory, guys :)

Actually, with the Galaxy S phones, you can just make a shortcut via the normal shortcuts menu...Shortcut/Settings/Battery Use. Nice little icon and everything. No need for Anycut, and TWLauncher doesn't have to be running.

Anyway, try NOT using task killers..reboot the phone, leave it alone for a day without manually killing any application. You might be surprised. Task Killers are hold-overs from the "no memory, hamster-in-a-wheel processor and nobody knows how to code for this thing" G1 era..they were needed then, but not on a GS. Still a few misbehaving applications out there...uninstall them and find an alternative if you can.

I had a fresh reinstall last night, and i lost 32 percent battery from 11pm to 10am without using the phone but for maybe 5 text messages.

I dont think this is normal...

maybe call t-mobile and ask if they have a spare battery for the vibrant.. i did that and then my battery started working properly... probably scared into working...haha

So your saying you had to change your battery and everything was good? Also i ordered through radio shack so i guess ill have to go there.

So my phone ahs only been on 46 minutes since charge, nothing running and i lost 7% in that time of battery.. I only answered 3 calls, and texted 5 times.. I assume this is really a battery issue.

I would say so. Since 8am I have installed 1 app, updated 4 apps, a bit of web browsing, Played a Video Game, and sent a received 65 text messages and I was down to 70%. and ost of that was the 15 mins of video games.

Well i got my battery replaced, and the guy said i should let it cycle for a few times, he said after a week of use of the battery is should be better. Lets see if hes right.

nope did not change battery.. i did call tmobile while at work and asked if i could change they said yes.. but then RIGHT after that phone call my battery started working fine.. dont know how else to explain.. kinda weird

After some tests I lose ~12% an hour when not using the phone at all. It hasnt made it through a work day yet. I'm starting to hate this phone

I had this exact problem when I first got the phone. It took 2 or3 charging cycles for the battery to the battery to see its full potential. Now I can use the battery all day on a single charge and don't even have a car charger

I had the same problem first day I had my phone would die in hours and def over night.. thought it was a battery problem was gonna take it back but found out that it was my wifi.. it was turned on and wasnt connection to my wifi at all because of router issues in having so my vibrant would try to reconnect over and over again and would kill battery within hours.. turn off the wifi look at your power control widget see if the wifi is lit up green and turn that shit off, destroys the battery completely, once I did this it was fixed full charge lasted almost 3 days np.

Maps drains my battery like crazy. The only way I know of to turn it off is task killer. It seems like it starts itself without me selecting it. My phone died at 5:30 a.m. after having a full charge before going to bed at 11.

Most relavent thread I could find and don't want to start another "battery sucks!" thread.

My battery usage test:

Battery 100% @ 6:30am
Battery 0% @ 2:40pm

Steady browser use w/ 3g from 7:30am (still 100%) - 2:40pm (dead)
no phone calls, a few text messages

Screen and browser brightness at the minimum.
GPS, WIFI, Bluetooth turned off.
live wall paper activated
No social network feeds etc. The only sync I had going is my gmail.

Good, bad? comments?

The changes I made starting last night from a 100% charged phone I was able to only lose 7% in 10 hours while in standby.

Wow I have had the exact opposite experience with mine... 730am phone fully charged , text, web, video, phone calls and crap loads of text messages and at 630pm battery at 59%

No live wallpapers
ADW launcher not touchwiz
Facebook and twitter sync (apps not internal)
bluetooth on the entire time
wifi and gps off

That's crazy. Just to make sure we are on the same page here, I was browsing the web almost the entire time and as mentioned via 3g. Maybe browsing eats more juice? Thoughts?

Looks like the only two major differences besides bluetooth are the live wallpapers and adw. Oh and I'm going to assume you are not using a task killer after seeing the other thread? I'm running atk, but looks like I can get rid of it huh?

I'm sure live wallpapers drains more than normal wallpapers, but do you think if I switched to ADW it would have a significant impact on my battery life?

If not, do you suggest going to a t-mobile store and getting a replacement battery? I ordered my phone through t-mobile online and it was shipped to me. Am I still able to go to a store for a replacement?

Thanks for your help.
