Root Phone doesn't boot anymore

Okay,

I'm trying to get a working version of Gingerbread on someone else's phone because it is rebooting all the time and was kind of hopeless to start with. I figured a vanilla version of Android might do it some good.

Now I've tried using Unrevoked on this Desire, which was UK T-Mobile branded and it didn't work. It stopped halfway and the phone wouldn't boot anymore at all. Then I tried several RUU's, the ones specific to UK T-Mob and the worldwide one. Those didn't work.

After that I tried this RUU for the Gingerbread update (which should be for everyone, right?)
Shipped ROMs

It worked and flashed right on the device and the bootloader now shows this:
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT 1-1.02.0001
MICROP-031d
TOUCH-PANEL-SYNW0101
RADIO-5.17.05.23

It is still not booting though, can anyone help me with this please?

That's the only way? Because otherwise it's going to be get rid of instead. (it's not worth fixing for him)

Hey, ask him. He's getting a new one in January. HTC said it was probably an internal fault causing random reboots. But now I kind of goofed it up even more.. :P

I might ask to buy it from him so I can send it to HTC.. Hmm

Yes more likely than not, it needs a motherboard swap out. No issue with software. You flashed official 2.3 anyway. Either way it would have had to go back to HTC.

So it's not booting because of the issue with the motherboard? Why was it (at least) booting with the 2.2 software then?

From your description it sounds like it was already failing.

Seriously, after that RUU it has pure HTC software, and everything you did with unrevoked is undone.

Yes it was, but at least it was still booting back then :D it mostly rebooted during heavy usage.

I thought that a lighter ROM and maybe an underclock/w different kernel would help it at least a bit.

Thanks for the help though SUroot/Hadron.

Haha it just booted, did stuff.. Gave me a second to look at the homescreen then restarted. It's done for sure..
