phone finder

has anyone tried the phone finder feature of HTC desire S?
I only managed to make it ring. but to locate the phone, it says that
still synchronizing with my phone.

any idea to make this work. currently im on singapore.
i dont know if it is really working here.

It works fine with my phone each time I've tried it. However, some people have reported that occasionally it takes a bit of time to get a GPS fix. And, in a similar thread, one user reported that HTC were having problems with this service, so it could be an HTC server issue and nothing to do with your phone.

When you click 'Refresh location' on the HTC Sense webpage the GPS notification icon should appear on your phone. If that's not happening then you could try these ideas...

You can check the HTC Sense account in 'Accounts & Settings' and make sure the sync button is green and the 'Data and synchronization' settings are checked where relevant. Also try turning off the sync for this account and then turning it back on again.

You could also try removing this account on your phone, then creating the account again.

I have deleted my account and created a new one. but all of a sudden I cannot sign anymore.

I already mailed HTC about this, and within 24hrs they replied.
They stated that they are having their maintenance and will be up by the end on July.

I hope it will be sooner...
Anyway still a great phone even without it.

Alternative security app is by Nortons, called Nortons Mobile Security. Have installed it on bth my Desire S and wifes standard Desire. Have tried it numerous times and it works well. Can remotely lock phone by SMS or locate it. location were sent back within 30 seconds. Very impressed (and free) at least for now.

Once HTC sense works properly, may go back to that ....
