Help Phone freezing with screen off

Hello all-

I purchased this Galaxy S2 about three weeks ago and love it thus far. I have been having a small issue where I'll go to wake up my phone using the power button and nothing will happen. I'll then have to do a hard reset by holding the power and both volume buttons to get the phone to work again. This had happened three times and when I went to take it back, I was told that this was a known glitch in the firmware that would be resolved shortly and to bring it back if the update doesn't resolve it. Two nights ago, I flashed Unnamed Rom onto the phone, which is great, but the issue has reappeared today for the fourth time.

I have searched and can't find anyone having a similar issue, so I am concerned that it may be limited to my phone. Am I wrong? Should I insist on a replacement? I only have a little over a week before the exchange window closes before having to make a warranty claim. Thank you.

Welcome to the forums.

I have heard of a similar on a rooted Desire HD - the problem was solved by changing the Min CPU frequency. If the issue was happening before you rooted, this may not help.

Just a thought, but if you are going to return it and insist on a replacement, don't forget to return everything to stock, as they may not exchange!

Thanks for the reply. It was happening before the rooting. I think I'm going to return it tomorrow based on that. That way, I'm covered if it really is a hardware issue.

I got it swapped out, and the new phone just had the same problem. I can't believe I'm not seeing this problem more widespread. Anyways, I'm hoping an upgrade will fix it. The phone was very hot when I took it out of my pocket and it wasn't being responsive. Very odd.
