Help Phone Functionality When Locked

Total noob here and I have a couple of questions regarding basic phone functionality. I am hoping that the support tag is the right one to post this thread under.

I have been challenged on the following two basic things of late.

1. My phone is on an auto lock sequence to support my company's push email functionality. But -- I am unable to place calls via my bluetooth headset without unlocking it. Answering with the bluetooth is fine when it is locked. Can anyone suggest a good app that would allow this functionality - i.e. make voice recognition dialing via bluetooth when the S2 is locked?
2. Also -- without bluetooth, when the phone is locked, and I have incoming calls, and I try to swipe the green icon to accept the call but the icon will not stay open long enough for me to push the "accept" button. Weird this, but I am positive I must be doing something wrong here. Not much help from the user manual.
