Help phone hangs on shutdown

im not sure why or what ive done but when i try and shut the phone down it just hangs at the "shutting down" screen for hours. it went 4 hours lastnight without shutting off.
the only way to get it to stop is to pull the batt or it sometimes works to plug it into the computer with the usb cable.

ive also noticed that mixzing wont read the sd card, keeps saying memory card is unavailible. could it be the same thing in both cases? the memory card is having issues? ive only had the phone for 2 weeks.

i can save to and read from the card when mounted as a disc drive and i can shoot and save pics and videos as well as double twist reading from the card just fine.

is there something im missing? this is driving me nuts
im on telus, android 2.1, not rooted or modified in any way.

Its usually a rogue app preventing shutdown.

Try going into settings>applications>manage applications and force closing all the apps you have installed yourself. Then see if it will shut down correctly.

Still isn't working. I've stopped and uninstalled every app I've put on myself and it still won't shut down properly.

Figured out the card read error. It was a setting in that given software (stupid me)
I tried rebooting again this time after a battery pull and its fine. One of my apps must have been the culprit. Not sure which though.

Try pulling the MicroSD card. I tried that and it worked. If your MicroSD card has errors on it or is corrupted, this can happen. Plug the MicroSD into a PC and run "Repair Disk" on it. If it doesn't work, you'll need a new MicroSD card.
