that atrix is the shiz!! i hate to complain with a phone like the bionic being announced but damn that video for the atrix is incredible. why does verizon always seem to be behind the curve or not up to par. i think they depend on their network to much. is it to much to ask for state of the art devices to be on the best network. could the bionic ever get a dock like atrix as an add on?

I agree. Looks like verizon is going to count on the fanboi play phone so much that they are going to drop their offering of high end android devices down a couple notches. When att had the iphone exclusively, verizon had to offer high end android devices in order to be competitive. Now, given att crappy service, they probably figure no one is going to jump ship, so the iphone is going to be their top offering, just like it was for att for so long.

I hope you're wrong, I hope that Motorola and HTC will keep trying to out do each other, and out do iPhone so that our Droids will just keep getting better and better on Verizon.

That's my hope anyways.....

HTC=terrible durability
Motorola=terrible software
Verizon=terrible at giving customers what they want.

You guys have no clue! Motorola is far superior then at&t. At&t just barely got good andriod phones cause they knew the iphone was coming here. We have no phone currently running 2.2 and probably won't until the atrix or htc's new device come out.

Cheers to this.

- ATT/TMo used to get exclusive, cool phones...about 3+ years ago.
- US Cellular is by far the furthest behind the curve on new phones.
- Verizon is expensive, but the cell service provided is second to none. Customer service has always helped me with any issue - no problem.
-IDK where people are getting Verizon being "behind the curve" on phones...if I recall correctly, the D1, exclusive to VZW, was the first smartphone with integrated google navigation. Gizmodo users voted for the D1 as a superior device in two different categories that the iPhone was in as well. Considering alot of those sites are very *ahem* pro-apple, this was impressive.
-Verizon has also been cranking out android devices like they were going out of style. Funny wording as these Droid phones seem to be hot for 6 months, and then become obselete because of the next big phone(s).

Realistically, we may not get ALL of the top end phones, but VZW has one of the best droid selections out there.

There are always other providers...

I will agree that the Atrix with its webtop capability and accessories is a more capable phone and that those features I am sure will be appreciated by those who buy it. With that fact known, it does not in no way shape or form make the Bionic a second rate phone or worse then the Atrix in overall appeal or usefulness for most of what people will use it for.

Yes if the Atrix was on Verizon, I would pick it over the Bionic but unfortunately it isn't. Instead of complaining about this fact, most of us are still extremely excited and anticipating the release of the Bionic to replace what we are currently using (this includes me).

Yep - I will have a hard time waiting until my early upgrade in several months, but in that time, there will be something better on the horizon. But I can never wait, ha

I dont think you guys got too screwed....in its own right, it is going to be one of the top phones on VZ network

But it is about time Motorola stopped kissing VZ ass and gave the love to someone else for once

I haven't read all the stuff on the atrix, (some marketing guys "clever" name taken from Matrix maybe??), but the pics make it look like it got some kind of New Blur running. Sorry, I'll take the "Google Experience" phone like the Bionic anyday over all the "custom" Moto software that is okay, but not what I really want.

a newer, even less invasive blur than what we had on the X. They just don't put full blur on a vZw droid for some reason.

I love blur :)
out of all the Skins, I love Blur.

I know with vanilla android, u tend to get updates faster but blur has been my favorite since using it on A droid X and even the 1st gen blur on the backflip. But vanilla android is so boring to me(even tho i know that is what launchers are for)...Just out of box, it bores me

I've always loved blur and the xperia's UI the best

Hmm- Bionic, Thunderbolt, Xoom, iPhone4. In the past year, Droid X, Inc, Pro, D2. I don't think Verizon is behind the curve the curve at all on top of the line phones. Sure- the Atrix has some cool accessories- So does the X and Droid/D2. Who knows what we will see for the Bionic. Either way, I would hardly call any of these devices behind the curve at their release times.

there's no blur on Bionic. They came out saying that it was being promoted this time as a full "Google Experience", which is why I chose that phrase. However, that could always change or they could be pulling our chain.

edit: looks like they have just really reduced the blur invasiveness, and made it a lot closer to vanilla, but not quite all the way.

why does verizon always seem to be behind the curve or not up to par. i think they depend on their network to much. is it to much to ask for state of the art devices to be on the best network.

How do you figure that? Verizon had the Droid, Droid Incredible, Droid X, Droid 2. Each one of those was better than any device on any other carrier when they came out

The Atrix has one feature (the extra RAM is just for the webtop) that doesn't even seem that useful to people who already have a computer, especially a laptop or tablet. Just seems to be a way to have your bookmarks and docs with you all the time, assuming you're carrying around the hookups or laptop dock as well.
Outside of that Verizon has been very good with their Android offerings. What other carrier can match the Droid lineup.

The Droid was only the second ever Android phone basically, but the Incredible was the "good enough" solution to those that really wanted a Nexus One but obviously were not getting it. The Droid X was supposed to contend the Evo, but everyone likes the Evo way more for obvious reasons. Droid 2 is just a spruced up Droid, nothing special with that. These phones have their extremely minor selling points, but as a whole, they are in no way true winners in the market. Simply have a well backed, high paid market campaign.

So basically what you're saying is because you don't like those phones that means everything else is better. And that this argument would hold true for everyone because everyone shares your opinion

I've owned 3 of the droid phones and constantly felt that the evo was way better in many ways, bugs aside. The nexus one alone easily beat the first three droids and was released well before one of them. Verizon gets the quantity of Androids, but not the highest quality.

It's funny hearing all this talk about other phones when I feel my current OG Droid can run with any of them. It's gonna take a dual core processor to make my D1, take a backseat. I'm def holding onto my D1, regardless of what direction I'm going in, even if this is the likely one.
