Help Phone keeps crashing, stuck on Google load screen

ok 2 days ago, my phone crashed, couldn't even turn it back on. pulled the battery to restart and it got stuck on the google load screen. left it for an hour and half didn't do anything. figured out if i go 'odin mode' then start i could start it but it crashes again within 20 min. brought it to my carrier, they said leave in odin mode for a few hours and let it 'download' left it for 5 hours, didnt do anything. called samsung, they walked me through a factory reset (both volume buttons + power button). worked for an hour, crashed again, after re-downloading my apps. did another factory reset, didnt even update chrome, crashed again. I have no warranty as i bought this phone off kijiji. i never rooted or anything like that. just free games (few paid) from the play store. never did anything fancy with it. PLEASE HELP!! and was this my fault? or did i buy a faulty phone?

My phone has been doing this as well, usually right after the screen goes to sleep and I immediately wake it. Had to do 5 battery pulls in a row tonight just to get the phone workable again. A few times it simply wouldn't turn on, one time it was on the google screen indefinitely and another time on the google screen for a long time.

no bueno

If you don't have a warranty, I'd say go ahead and unlock/root it and try a custom ROM or kernel. You don't really have much to lose.

would unlocking or rooting help? i dont even know what that means. I was told it meant getting everything for free on the play store, im sure that is possible, as you can do it with iphones, but thats not really what i am looking for. i am going to bring it to a local repair guy today, (again found on kijiji), hopefully it wont cost too much to fix if it is fixable. and i have never taken out insurance on my cell phone so i dont know about that. i mean i have insurance on my home and car, but i dont think they would cover a cell phone. But i will ask the guy if rooting or unlocking will help. i dont know anything about that kind of stuff, i just know how to play my games and text and stuff, thats about it. anyways i will let you know what the repair guy says, and hopefully it might help a few of you also. actofgod - did you ever get your phone fixed? or is this a current problem? I have seen a lot of posts about crashing after the update to jellybean, and when i factory reset i was still with jellybean it didnt go back to ICS which is what originally came with the phone, maybe this could be the problem? yet a lot of people have JB and it works great...ahhh i dont know, damn technology, why cant it always just work!!! lol

Unlocking and rooting have nothing to do with free games lol. And piracy is illegal and not tolerated on these forums.

But maybe a different kernel would fix the problem?

Just incase this is happeneing to anyone else...I have sent my phone to a local repair guy. He has tried reloading the entire operating system and wiping completely, this still did not fix the problem. so if this doesnt work it has to be a hardware issue right? something wrong with the way things are wired? he said he is checking for water damage, but i know i didnt get any, and when i bought the phone it was still in the factory packaging, he never used it. maybe he will find a crossed wire or something, i dont know...keep you posted

ok, dont know if i said this or not, but i have since sent it to a repair guy. he said he has tried unlocking the boot loader, rooted it, tried 2 different kernels, 2 official firmwares (ICS and JB), and 2 custom firmwares he has created. he has checked for water and any other sort of physical damage, and nothing. even he is stumped, said there is a slight chance it could be the battery, but thats a long shot. he said he has never seen anything like it and thinks it may be a defective phone. if anyone had an idea or even a piece of advice i would love to hear it. open for anything...please help!! and thank you

I have the same issue. I have to at times pull the lte Sim and reboot then turn off phone. Then insert lte Sim. One time I had to pull battery and wait 20 minutes. One time had to clear delvik and cache with twrp... same issues over and over get stuck at Google screen....

Maybe a bad SIM card?.....

Can anyone replicate the problem? I'm thinking it's not the software, but the hardware. Battery, SIM, something fried on the inside.

Had the same issue this week. Phone has been fine for a year, then suddenly it locked up, nothing. Had to do a battery pull, the first one of which it was stuck on the loading screen for 10 mins before I pulled again.

I wonder if there's been a sneaky carrier update or something to fix a security issue perhaps.

Im having this same issue. Phones been perfect since February when I got it now its doing this. Im about ready to take it to Verizon since it should be under warranty still. Anyone have any fixes yet?

Ok, with jelly bean, the bootloader does some type of system check that has been reported to last 20 mins. The longest I've had my phone on the Google screen is about 15 minutes. This is normal.

If you're on stock, no mods, no unlocked bootloader, and your phone keeps crashing, you might want to take it in to Verizon.
