Help Phone keeps receiving data?

Whenever I enable data or background data, my phone keeps receiving it even when there's no applications running in the background. I have disabled both data and background data, but now I can't receive photos in text messages or get on Facebook from my phone. How do I fix this?

Whenever I enable data or background data, my phone keeps receiving it even when there's no applications running in the background. I have disabled both data and background data, but now I can't receive photos in text messages or get on Facebook from my phone. How do I fix this?

Background data is not needed to receive mms messages or get on facebook or any other website/app. But you will need to have data enabled or be on wifi. But if you're on wifi, you won't be able to get mms messages.
