Help Phone keeps shutting down PLUS apps keep force closing

So lately my phone has just been shutting off by itself. The battery can be halfway charged, and it shuts off, then when I turn it back on, the phone tells me my battery is completely drained and needs to be charged immediately. That has been happening for almost two weeks or so.

NOW it's just started force closing my apps that I use most frequently (google voice, myyearbook, swype, etc) and when I went to my gmail account and other apps, it looks as if I just installed the apps and every app appears to be reset. :/
Anyone have a clue as to WHAT has gotten into my phone? Or should I just go to the store and have them replace it altogether?

Any help greatly appreciated!

I'd first consider what I might have installed a couple of weeks ago. It might be an app causing your grief. If nothing new has been added to the mix... it must be something with the phone... hardware related. Good luck.

Your phone suddenly shutting down like it was corrupted the memory on your phone causing your apps to behave that way.

You will have to figure out if the battery is bad or another hardware issue.

that didn't work. but all is well, I did a hard reset and everything works okay ... except it's still shutting off again (not as much), like something is wrong with the battery indicator or something. It can be halfway and shut off but turn on again telling me my battery is dead, but still works like it's at half a battery .. weird.

I might end up taking it to get replaced after all.
