Root Phone Never Sleeps After Root!

Barats

Android Enthusiast
I rooted over the weekend. Flashed Cm 6.1, did not like and went back to the stock sense rom with a nandroid backup. After I did this, I have a huge battery issue and it stems from the phone never sleeping. The up time and awake time are the same and it can not keep a charge at all. I went to bed last night with it at 45% and woke up 5 hours and it was dead. This was with the screen off and no use.

One thing I am noticing when I look what's been using the battery is Maps. It's at 83% and the percentage rises even with me not using the phone but I can not figure out why it's constantly running.

Any help? Thanks.

fully charge your phone tonight, turn off all syncing and put phone in airplane mode and see what happens

Well I did turn of all sync. Put it in airplane mode and still nothing. The phone's awake time and up time is right together. It just started happening yesterday really. The phone just slowly dies even with no use at all and is even worse when I am using it.

I can really not figure it out, as when I first rooted, had no issues. I have all the same apps again with the same setting basically.

It's driving me insane thinking about what it could be!

For what it's worth, I'm having the same issue and it's driving me insane. I've tried complete wipes, different roms, etc...I do not install a single app and it still happens.

How long has it been going on for you? And was it ever an issue in the past?

I am using the stock Sense rom. And the same apps I've always used before. All of a sudden this starts happening.

you could try uninstalling maps and the just download it from the market.

you could wipe cache and reflash the sense rom over what you have now.

you could also purchase system panel from the market. and run the monitoring and see what process is keeping the phone awake.

Just download spare parts. Open it. Select battery history. Then select other usage. The select partial wake usage. That will show you what is using the cpu and not letting it sleep.

No, it won't. When it was happening to me there was nothing dramatic under partial wake usage.

you're right spare parts doesn't really break it down by processes. download system panel, you will need the paid version. then run the monitoring service for a day and see what process is running.

or start unistalling apps until it goes away.

this should have nothing to do with root. it may be caused by corrupted data from a back up tho.

you either need to wipe everything and start fresh or buy system panel and run the monitor service.

Ok, I was reading a thread on the XDA forums and the guy said it's because the rom was flashed while the phone was plugged in. I had never heard of this, but the guy he was helping said it fixed his problem. I'm going to try flashing a rom or two tonight and see if that was the cause!

This would be great because I'm not a big fan of CM6.

*Update*

Both Fresh and Azrael's most recent roms based off of the 3.70.651.1 OTA still don't let my phone sleep, whether they are flashed plugged in or not.

With CM6 and Myn, however, my phone sleeps normally.

Fyi - I realize that "rooting" did not cause the OP's problem or my own. But something associated with the OTA is definitely affecting some of our phones. I'm hardware 0003 btw.
