Help Phone not recognizing Sd card

My phone isn't recognizing the sd card at all. When it's installed in the phone, the "mount sd card" option is grayed out. When I remove the card and reinstall it, the phone first says that it is preparing the card. After just a few seconds, it then says card removed. I don't have another way right now to check the card on another phone or computer. I've shut down, pulled the battery, etc. Any suggestions?

The only suggestions I can give involve using a PC. You may just need to copy everything off the card and reformat the card (to fat32 preferably) . Then copy everything back.

Other than that, the SD card is bad or the slot on the phone is bad.
