Phone not updating correctly?

I've tried to update my Droid X and done the whole update phone deal and the update just keeps searching and searching and searching.

I'm curious if I'm supposed to see a message of "your phone is up to date" or something.

Yes you should see a message that says your phone is up to date.

Perhaps you are in a bad area and the data is having a hard time connecting or communicating?

Try rebooting the phone and searching again for updates.

Just a thought, but are you giving the phone enough time to come out of sleep mode completely? I don't check for updates until I show the 3g signal or that my wifi is connected, otherwise, I have the same problem as you...just searches and searches until I back out, wait for signal and try again.

Mine keeps saying "up to date"

Can't wait for it to say "update available!"

Yeah I have tried to reboot and made a phone call or a text and then checked for updates still with nothing. No message at all.

I've also noticed recently that my phone has been freezing from sleep mode.

For instance if I slide to unlock the phone the homepage doesn't show!? I'm thinking of going by Verizon to get a replacement.
