Phone problem: sends SMS by itself

Hi.
I recently bought an unlocked T-Mobile My Touch 3G.
After installing my chip, I can use the phone normally but it appears to be sending SMS messages or something like that by itself, since I get many SMS messages saying "The number is wrong".
Could it be any configuration issue or application related?

Did the person you bought it from do a factory reset before he sold it to you? (Since you say it was unlocked. They don't come unlocked and new.)

You could probably find the unsent text in the message app and delete it, but I'd do a factory reset to be safe. It's in the Settings menu somewhere; I can't remember which sub-menu, and I don't have my MT3G here to check.
