Root phone randomly reboots into clockwork

I recently performed a backup to restore my droid x to stock and it periodically reboots for no apparent reason and in doing so pull up the ClockWork menu.

any ideas how to prevent this from happening?

"backup/restore"....

Did you restore it from CW recovery or from a backup program like Titanium?

What did you have previously, a rom? I always format/delete cache prior to restoring a backup, if I'm going from a rom to a dissimilar rom or stock.

You could boot into recovery and delete the cache to see if that helps.

I came from Apex version 1.3.1 back to stock using ClockwordMod "Restore". I DID NOT wipe the data or cache, so I would assume thats my problem?

If I were you, I'd charge up the phone to 100%. While still charging, boot into recovery and delete the cache/format, then restore that same backup. (You will lose all changes you made since the last restore.) Then I'd go into advanced and delete the battery stats. Now you should be able to unplug the charger. (This is how I make sure the battery won't cause FC's.)

OTOH, you could just delete the cache and see if that fixes anything.

Is there anything else that might cause crashing, like an overclock app?

I don't have an overclock app installed. I read somewhere that just doing 'Bootstrap Recovery' would work. I did so, without doing 'Reboot Recovery' and will see how this plays out.

  1. Should I do "Wipe Data/Factory Reset", then "Wipe Cache" and then your "Battery Wipe" deal?
  2. Is there any significance to doing this while at 100% on the charge? Does doing this while not mess anything up?

Factory reset will wipe everything. I'd save that for a last resort.

I'd try just clearing the cache for starts. That is safe.

The clearing battery stats with 100% charge fixes some of the battery FC's, but that doesn't appear to be your problem.

I had this issue once after wiping date a cache when going to another ROM. Once bootstrap was downloaded again, the re-boots into clockwork stopped.

I just performed a Wipe Cache. Will see what happens. Thanks for the help.

I noticed that if my phone dies and it is plugged in, it boots into clockwork but if I just turn it off, it boots fine.

Oh. I have no problem as my phone usually never dies, I just happened to leave mine at my grandmas house XP
