Help Phone reading out my texts??!

Hey guys, need a quick fix for this one since I'm at work :p

I don't know what happened, but I just received a text on my phone and the 3vo read it out loud! :eek: Since I'm at work, it's inconvenient at the very least.

It was just sitting in my pocket on standby, and I'm using Handcent for messaging. Does anyone know how to fix this??
 
Does Handcent read out text messages? I thought only the app Vlingo did this for people. I don't think stock Android comes with Text to Voice and I only say that because its a cool tool but nobody wants their business yabbered out loud by their phone. I used Vlingo and it did that with my text messages but I set it up to do that.

I'm pretty sure the stock EVO 4G can read text.
 
I know I had checked the messages settings and could not see a function to turn it on or off, maybe someone else will know, my guess is you may need to download an app to do so.
 
Incase you wanted to have an app read your text messages you can use Auto SMS
 
Umm... does anyone know how to turn if off lol?

It kind of went away by itself but it'd be nice to know for next time lol.
 
One thing I like about handcent is the little shortcut pop window that comes up when you get a text. On the little pop window there is an icon you can click on that will read the message out loud. Don't know if this is the case with you but there have been times where I have gotten a message while the phone was in my pocket and it would activate the little button that will read the message, so I deactivated the pop up.

^This. I've done it before...thank god it didnt happen to the message I had received right before it or I woulda been in some deep sh*t lol

Nothing bad haha, just startled me since the volume was on high and I'm sitting in the cube :p
