Was it hot to the touch? Sometimes, I've seen reboots to prevent the phone from overheating.

I had my first random reboot today as well. It was charging at the time for me as well (and i believe it was fully charged).

it was warm at best and it was fully charged as well..i can test it out next time by not leaving it charging at 100% all day..

theres a lot of people having reboot problems. go to the motorola photon forums and theres people complaining about it. i myself have had the reboot problem.

no i was using iheartradio..

**update...its not localized to just when its charging..i was using the phone just now and right in the middle of whatever i was doing it rebooted for no reason..ugh!

equalizir..any fixes or anything for this, or is it just take it as it is?

i could understand if i was using a custom ROM and its rebooting but this is crazy..finally a phone with excellent reception and of course it has to have some defect

I had the reboot issue a while back and I tried everything Sprint suggested only to continue having the problem. The last resort was taking it to a Sprint store and having them re-install the OS and I have not had a single reboot in the last month since I did that. I was getting 2-3 on average a day and sometimes up to 5 in a day before.

gotta do a hard reset, erase everything and start over. wipe cashe etc...
must get msl # and reset your network. i also set my cdma network to automatic. disable kickstand mode and inpocket detection.

Photon is kinda sensitive to certain apps so i would install a few per day and see how it performs. i went a week without a reboot then installed a cracked version of need for speed hot pursuit. it froze a couple times then rebooted...

not that it matters, but does doing a factory reset remove root? i will definitely try the reset later on!

my bad, your right. I did flash the latest SBF yesterday and i did lose root. but its easy to get back. unfortunately im still getting the random reboots.

I'm so sorry to hear you are still getting random reboots. Let's hope I get better results when I do a factory reset and flash the latest SBF.

My phone has been plagued with the same problem. I have had no luck isolating the cause, though I will say that my wife's Photon, which she runs completely stock (maybe half a dozen apps installed, total), is significantly more stable while mine (rooted, dozens of apps) is pretty iffy.

Here's an interesting fact -- the reboots that I get are not full reboots -- that is, suddenly, it will go to the Sprint Now animated boot screen comes up first. It doesn't fully reboot with the Motorola logo first. The thing is, if you go to the Settings > About Phone > Status and look at system up time, the reboot doesn't show up there!

Same here...

Thats very weird. Mine does a full reboot every single time. Theres an app in the market called reboot logger and it'll keep a record of everytime the phone reboots either randomly or manually.

I was on XDA last night and theres a thread on what apps that can be removed or frozen and that they wont affect phone performance. I personally think its an issue with a lot of the motoblur stuff so im gonna remove a lot of it and post back my results.

One more thing. The Photon isnt the only phone from motorola that does random reboots. the droid phones do it, the bionic, the xpert and some others.

Purely subjective results from using the "App Cache Cleaner" app mentioned in the Moto support forum thread posted earlier -- it does seem to have helped a little with the reboot problem but I still got a completely random reboot yesterday. Also, it seems to have possibly helped with, but not eliminated, the 'not able to enter text' problem that I also get.

I just downloaded App Cache Cleaner too. I'm hoping it does help with the rebooting and not able to enter text problems. If it just reduces the frequency of these problems, I'll be happier.
