Help Phone reception - at work only

My phone reception is normal compared to other phones I have or use to have. The exception is at work. I have a Verizon repeater (about 50 feet from me). My other phones would get 3-4 bars all the time. My Eris goes from 0 bars to 1 bar to 4 bars seemingly at random. As a result, it KILLS my battery life here. I keep data off (along w/ BT and WiFi). Still, I have to charge it while I'm here. It drops about 20% per hour doing nothing!

Any ideas or suggestions?

The range, at best, is about 40 feet, but that's for perfect conditions - line of sight, nothing in the way. Try to move it closer. The Network Extender comes with a fairly long cable for an external GPS antenna, so you can put it away from a Window and run the cable to it if you wish.

There is a FAQ that shows the range here: Answers to FAQs about network extender

I don't know why, but I can walk out there and stand under the Extender, and it doesn't make a differnce. It will sit at 0-1 bar... then will jump to 4 bars. It's killing my battery life, and I had 2 calls today go straight to voice mail. No one else seems to be having this problem here (at work) with their phone, and I don't have this problem anywhere else. On the road - at home, I get good - consistant reception.

Would a radio upgrade help?

Do you have the old, voice-only Network Extender, or the new one that does 3G as well? I have the old one, and I can be standing right next to it and get no more than 1 bar showing. However, if I go to settings->about phone and look at the signal strength, it can be as high as -60 dBM (which is a pretty good signal.) You should be able to talk pretty reliably with a signal as bad as -90 dBM to -100 dBM, or so I understand.
