Help Phone says Internal Storage full, which is incorrect

I keep getting an error message saying internal storage is full and my apps have started to malfunction (can't download new version of WA etc and old version expired).
HOWEVER, when the phones connected to laptop and I navigate to properties, I have only used 3.16 GB of internal storage and have 7.68 GB free space.
I have rebooted phone, and have removed SIM and rebooted to try and reset the storage limits but no joy.
Please help as I've deleted all my photos, videos etc but still can't store anything on the phone.

Welcome to the forums!
Are you sure you have enough memory for applications? Internal memory is divided to storage for data (used just for storing documents), and for for applications (/data partition). If the partition for applications is full, you get problems you've described.
Try to clear cache, it will free some memory.

have you found a fix for your problem? i have exact same problem! i dropped my phone few days ago. i wonder can it be that something got broken inside..
