Help phone screen turning on and off randomly

I noticed with my phone screen, that it turns on randomly. not sure why it is doing this. does anybody else have this issue?
 
Are you running a custom rom/kernel? In my experience, it happens in some custom kernels. However, the problem is usually fixed shortly after it's discovered. If there is a new version of the kernel you're running, then try updating it. If not, try a different one.
