Lock screen
=
If my phone goes missing, I have the lock set on the phone so they cannot easily get into it, and whoever picks it up will see my contact info when they turn it on so they can voluntarily return it.
When I notice it goes missing I can borrow a phone from anyone around me and send a text to my phone. The text will send my phone bat-$h!t crazy and I will be able to hear it within a decent earshot range.
Then if that doesn't work, obviously the person who picked it up is not planning on returning it. I go to a computer, remotely lockdown the phone, backup the info to the computer, then remotely wipe everything (personal info and all) on the phone, while at the same time tracking it via gps.
That pretty much covers everything on all levels of security... aside from chaining the phone to my wrist.![]()

Wife lost her Palm Treo thing a little while back. Luckily after I called it a few times, the guy who grabbed it answered and returned it.I suppose there's no better motivation for a well thought-out plan than paranoia
I don't even use the lock screen on mine! oh well.
So during the first couple calls I was quite paranoid. Though I would chalk it up to personal experience making for good motivation... and paranoia.Wife lost her Palm Treo thing a little while back. Well, at least get the 'contact owner' app. It's free and it would be very helpful getting the phone back to you.
so anyone find a security app for our phones?
I found mobile defense, but i'm curious what others use?
I'm looking for something to:
- find my phone if I lose it
- lock it remotely if it gets lost
- etc.
I tried it and it failed to find my phone.... that's a pretty basic option. So I lost faith in everything they said they could do, even though I never proved any of it wrong.I am using lookout. It backs up your phone, scans for viruses, and will find your phone if lost. I dont know what other with more experience with the android apps have to say about this app., but I myself have not had any problems with it.

Granted, I still have it to scan for viruses just in case... but I think I may remove it soon since there are scarcely any updates, which I assume should be a frequent necessity like all other anti-virus softwares.![]()
. My lookout has anti-virus, GPS, backup, and a "scream" feature, which makes it play a ringtone really loud if you loose your phone under the couch or something and you dont know where it is. I am using both atm.
